Meet Grace Cummings

Grace is the founder of Working With Congress, bringing with her over 24 years experience in campaign politics and service on Capitol Hill.

Since 1995, Grace has pursued her passion for teaching as an adjunct faculty member at OPM’s Federal Executive Institute. There she teaches an intensive three-day seminar entitled “Working with Congress.” During this period, she also has taught at the USDA Grad School, the Department of Defense and served as a guest lecturer for American University's Campaign Management Academy and Georgetown University’s Government Affairs Institute. Over this time, Grace worked full-time in a variety of executive and consulting positions, both on and off Capitol Hill. In March 2005, Grace decided to begin her own training business and bring Working With Congress to a wider audience.

Prior to establishing Working With Congress, Grace served as the Executive Director of The Faith & Politics Institute from December 2000 through March 2005. This Institute is a nonprofit organization located on Capitol Hill, which provides Members of Congress and Congressional staffers opportunities for reflection and dialogue focused on the intersection of their faith and their role in public service.

From May 1998 to December 2000, Grace served as the Chief of Staff to Congressman Jack Kingston of Georgia.

Before joining Kingston’s staff, Grace worked with McCaffery Associates, a firm specializing in communications and management consulting. During this period, Grace worked with clients including the National Republican Congressional Committee, Speaker Newt Gingrich, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and a variety of federal, state and local officials.

During the 1994 election cycle, Grace served as Finance Director of the National Republican Congressional Committee. Her responsibilities included the development and management of all fund raising efforts for the NRCC.

From 1988 to 1994, Grace was Chief of Staff to Louisiana Congressman Jim McCrery. During each of his reelection campaigns, Grace took leave from her official duties and served as the Congressman's campaign manager.

Originally from California, she has worked in Washington, D.C. since 1981.
