Knowing the Difference Between the House and the Senate

[ view other seminars

How do the two chambers differ? Should I approach the House and the Senate differently? Does the difference in the rules of the House and Senate change the way a piece of legislation moves through their respective chambers? How do the staffs compare? Is the House more partisan than the Senate?

Though sharing some similarities, the House and Senate operate in very different ways, are governed by different rules and handle policy and political matters in distinct ways. In order to be effective on the Hill, it is essential to understand the nature of each chamber and approach them accordingly. In this session, we will examine how these chambers differ, how they relate to one another and how best your organization can position itself with these often competing legislative bodies.
